The push to eliminate passwords and replace them with police-data harvesting points is an inevitable consequence, as surveillance capitalists' traditional revenue stream lies on its death bed, and authorities offer dizzying sums for intelligence data.

Surveillance capitalism is changing. In the beginning, it genuinely was about working out what we needed, and then following us around with convenient options to buy that commodity. But over the years, we, the public, have orchestrated what's been described as The Biggest Boycott in History. We've taken steps to block online advertising. And we've done so with such incredible solidarity, that it's also become the most successful boycott in history.

I mean, why should we care about a bunch of evil, subjugative cyber giants? They're multi-billionaires. We know they see us as a product. We know their aim is to manipulate and exploit us. We know they don't even pay for the vast majority of the content they use to propel their ads. That's why they're so rich. They're monetising other people's work. On Web 2.0, OUR work… Let's sock it back to 'em. Open and shut case.

Well, not quite shut. The problem is, if surveillance capitalists can't hit their financial targets pimping us out to brands, how do they compensate? Where does their money come from if we won't look at their ads?

The world's richest and most powerful campaign group is shaping up to replace password logins with police-data harvesting points, and as advertising profits dip, they're stepping up their game.

Surveillance capitalists have developed spectacularly efficient and sophisticated data-collection systems. They're doing the surveillance side of their job brilliantly. Even the lion's share of people who think they've "de-Googled" are still reliably stalked by the Mountain View Monolith.

But the capitalism side of their job? That's sliding down the piste at uncontrollable speed, on its back, with its skis in the air. Even though the great de-Googling public are probably still being stalked by the Big G, they're almost certainly not seeing its meticulously-targeted ads.

Surveillance capitalists have monopolised the Web-access systems and captured the infrastructure, so they can spy on most of us whatever happens. But they still need us to use and accept their services in order to advertise to us. When we avoid and block their services, they end up with an absolute mass of data, and a breathtakingly expensive data-harvesting infrastructure, but no way to reach us with the monetisation scheme.

This has been the number one problem for surveillance capitalists, and we've pushed back so hard with our boycotts that they are now double-desperate… Triple-desperate… Nay, let's say quadruple-desperate to find alternative sales channels for our data.


HOW DOES A SURVEILLANCE CAPITALIST MAKE MONEY WHEN WE WON'T LOOK AT ITS ADS?

The corporate surveillance machine can no longer sell us all to brands, so it sells us to other entities. Such as data-brokers, the state, and the police. We should not underestimate Big Tech's imperative to shift into this territory now that display advertising is on its death bed. We know that police forces will pay seven digit sums for very small amounts of intelligence data. Intelligence data has become sensationally lucrative in a world where surveillance capitalism's trad revenue stream is drying up.

With a Press Center set up to use the media as a muck-spreader for its propaganda, the campaign is spewing out breathless scaremongering, manipulation, far-fetched "survey results" and barefaced lies relating to password logins.

It would be no surprise at all if surveillance capitalism's next buzz target were our biometric and forensic data. If you like, our Police data…

Which is exactly what's happening.

Cue biometric logins, and a plan to enforce their use through deprecation of all alternative means.

Big Tech's insidious, dishonest campaign to enforce biometric harvesting is already referring to passwords as "legacy authentication". This is big. If you're not wide awake, go and blast your face with the shower-head - dial set stone cold - and then come back. You need to care about this.

A passwordless society would be as devastating as a cashless society in terms of its destruction of human rights and freedom.

I know it's a cliche, but BE VERY AFRAID.

Consider a situation in which you can't even maintain employment without submitting your fingerprints and other biometric data to Big Brother - who will, I guarantee, obligingly sell their nice little bio stash to the police, for $billions in profit. That's exactly where we're heading if we don't start aggressively and loudly voicing zero-tolerance protest, before it's too late.

REFUSE TO USE PASSWORDLESS LOGINS. IF YOU USE THEM, YOU WILL BE WEAPONISED AS A PROPAGANDA STATISTIC TO DESTROY PASSWORDS AND MANDATE UNAVOIDABLE, POLICE-DATA HARVESTING POINTS ACROSS ALL OF SOCIETY. IT'S ALREADY HAPPENING.

The group behind what's now been a 13-year drive to replace passwords with fingerprint logins was the brainchild of PayPal - an above-the-law, criminal gang whose theft of its users' money is household knowledge, and whose US Trustpilot page is 87% composed of one-star reviews. That's 23,525 worst-score-possible reviews, out of 27,040. The paypal.uk Trustpilot stats are even worse, with 92% of reviews chalking up the ignominious solitary star. Other core lobbyists drifted slowly to PayPal's side through the early twenty-tens, and the fingerprint-focused campaign group was established as a classic Big Brother collective by 2012.

The campaign currently involves: PayPal, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, TikTok, Verizon, various government bodies, most major financial brands, and a predictable range of additional, surveillance-crazed corporate fascists.

Calling itself the FIDO Alliance, the group is now publicly coy about its Big Tech governorship, and it slyly presents itself as an independent advisory committee on login security. With a Press Center set up to use the media as a muck-spreader for its propaganda, the campaign is spewing out breathless scaremongering, manipulation, far-fetched "survey results" and barefaced lies relating to password logins. Its propaganda:

  • Inappropiately uses of the term "popular" / "popularity" with reference to things consumers have been literally forced to adopt.
  • Fuses assumption with (already far-fetched and highly suspicious) "consumer study data" to legitimise speculative conclusions.
  • Dishonestly blames passwords for the ills of 2FA. For example, public complaints about inconvenience - which in the real world are invariably aimed at the fullness of 2FA processes - are attributed solely to passwords.
  • Blames passwords, and only passwords, for issues with a wide array of causes. Issues such as consumers abandoning purchases. This is expressly intended to FOMO-whip vendors into implementing biometric logins.
  • Describes passwords as "legacy authentication", even though they are by far a preferred, predominant, standard and 100% current means of login. Silicon Valley brainwashing at its finest.

And because we, the public, have resisted this fingerprint bullshit for well over a decade, the campaign is now targeting employers in a bid to strangle us into submission.

That's right, Big Tech is now going after our fingerprints via our work logins. It intends to calculatedly exploit power-imbalance as a means to FORCE adoption, in a setting where the preds know most of us will not, cannot say no. We've seen these rapist-mentality tactics from elite cybertech before, and whilst they're reprehensible, we know that the exploitation of power-imbalance definitely does work. It's pretty much the most effective, not to mention violent, coercion tactic available within the law.


WHAT DOES FIDO STAND FOR?

Although FIDO Alliance doesn't often headline the fact - and it imposes special copyright conditions on its propaganda which prohibit editing and modification - FIDO actually stands for Fast IDentity Online. Not Fast Login. Fast IDENTITY. And that's what all this is really about. Not logging you in, but handing your categorical identity verification to Big Brother in places where there's absolutely no need.

Let your employer know NOW that they will lose staff if they enforce biometric logins. If you have a union, alert your rep and ask for a pre-emptive statement against mandatory biometric submission in the workplace. If you don't, chances are you'll be handing your dabs to the cops, like a common criminal, to further enrich elite cybertech, before the close of 2025.


PROPAGANDA BLITZ

FIDO Alliance's chilling, recent propaganda includes titles such as:

  • Businesses are Ready to Ditch Passwords, Says New Report from FIDO Alliance and LastPass. Translation: "people are not dumb enough to hand the preds their fingerprints willingly or even for money, so Big Brother is ready to persuade/coerce your employer to force you to hand them over."
  • FIDO Alliance study reveals growing demand for password alternatives as AI-fuelled phishing attacks rise. Translation: "here are some blatant lies about demand, alongside some extremely dishonest scaremongering to make passwords sound increasingly unsafe, when the actual cause of the problem is the AI bullshit for which FIDO Alliance is ITSELF responsible."
  • FIDO Device Onboard (FDO) Certification Program is Launched to Enable Faster, More Secure, Deployments of Edge Nodes and IoT Devices. Translation: "Big Tech is carrot-dangling a free accreditation badge in front of vendors as a means to coerce them into adopting logins that necessarily harvest biometric data."

All of these titles have emerged from the bowels of Big Brother within the past month. Don't underestimate their power to influence businesses and bodies you can't avoid. And notice the way these so called "studies" are being attributed to an expert committee-soundalike, as Big Tech writes its own propaganda behind an alias - protected by custom-imposed copyright conditions that attempt to prohibit the substitution of "FIDO Alliance" with the true source: "Big Tech".


PROJECTION MUCH…

The insidious stalkers behind Fascist IDentity Online… Sorry, FAST IDentity Online… claim that the push towards passwordless technology has come at the consumer's behest. This is a blatant lie.

In truth, oppressive tech such as multi-factor or biometric auth has been roundly resisted by the public. The surveillance industry has spent $billions shilling the technology, and that gargantuan global marketing effort has failed so miserably that the preds have since moved onto Plan B: force. That's the only way they've been able to drive significant adoption.

This is not a game. It is literally the end of human rights if we don't start resisting this RIGHT NOW.

Expect to see more elite cybertech brands implementing Passkeys as a default - as Google have just done. And if the public significantly resist, expect to see other login options removed so there's no way to use trad methods at all.

Expect more dishonest-in-the-extreme propaganda, hallmarked with Silicon Valley's classic, anything-but-the-truth ethos. It might look harmless in isolation, but when it's fenced out at scale, under the guise of "journalism", through media and tech blogs, and attributed to a supposed "advisory group" (which is really just Big Brother behind yet another fancy acronym), it garners mass support.

FIDO's claim that consumer sentiment is driving adoption of biometric logins is, under current circumstances, somewhat like claiming that prisoners are in jail because they like the food. In genuine popular terms, the public did not want 2FA, they do not want biometric logins, and they do not want to get rid of passwords. That's not speculation. It's what the real world statistics have shown for over ten solid years. We won't even fucking SELL these weirdos our dabs, as Amazon and a range of banks comprehensively proved when offering actual money for bio data. The uptake was abysmal. ABYSMAL.


IN SUMMARY

It's taken the Fascist IDentity movement 13 years, billions of dollars, endless nagging and literal force to progress their campaign to its current state, in which the public majority STILL rejects it. Password-only logins still make up the overwhelming majority. That is not an illustration of a public gagging to see the back of passwords. It's an illustration of a surveillance industry gagging to harvest phenomenally high-value data and being told by the public, repeatedly, to fuck off.

Passwords are privacy. Passwords are basic agency. That's why we absolutely must keep them. But if this bunch of salivating identity fascists have anything to do with it, we're going to lose them.

Parts of the tech industry are now starting to tacitly admit that phone-based 2FA was a train-wreck in slow motion, and we can see that bio data is where their grasping hands are now shifting. But even when they were aggressively shilling 2FA as some kind of "protection", willing public uptake was dire.

Before resorting to force last year, Google had not even managed to notch up 10% adoption. Now that they've literally forced people to adopt 2FA, they and their FIDO cronies would like us to believe it's been "popular". This is not just linguistic manipulation. It's flat-out bullshit. But twisting the facts is what Surveillance Valley does. Anything you give them will ultimately be twisted and used to subjugate you.

When they say "reduce reliance on passwords", what they really mean is "increase reliance on phenomenally saleable police data".

I'm going to leave you with a link to a previous post on this subject, before stressing that the three hundred plus bodies involved in the Fascist IDentity Online campaign are not community groups, privacy / human rights advocates or citizens concerned about their online safety. They are - exclusively as far as I could see - parties who aggressively profit or gain from surveillance. And yes, I do include two-faced, spyware-pushing, data-trading Google satellites like Mozilla in that. The public don't want this. Don't let the preds gaslight you into believing that you want your freedom taken away.

This is not a game. It is literally the end of human rights if we don't start resisting this RIGHT NOW.
